Prince Philip: The Lives of the Photos, The Story of the Duke of Edinburgh


Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was born on 10 June 1921 in the island of Corfu, Greece. Members of the royal families of Denmark, Germany, Russia and Britain have been his relatives.

Prince Philip was the only son of Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice of Battenberg.

Prince began his studies at the McGannett American School in Saint Cloud, France. Here he (second from left) is with his schoolmates. At the age of seven, he went to his relatives in England where he did his schooling in Surrey.

Prince Philip later attended Gordonston Boarding School in Northern Scotland. He had a great performance in sports here.


It is believed to be the first photo taken of the then Princess Elizabeth (third from left) and then the naval cadet Greece and Denmark's Prince Philip (with the rightmost white cap) taken together. This photo was taken on 23 July 1939 at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth.
